If you haven't been to a hot rods show or a car show, you'll need to experience it at least once, even if you're not into cars or trucks.First of all, realize that many of these rigs and their owners have been prepping for the show for months, and in some cases years. Everything needs to be perfect from the tire tread to the exhaust system, and you'll even find the engine compartment clean all the way to the bolts in the oil pan.
These cars and trucks are of many different types from those that are considered classics such as a Mustang Shelby of a vintage year, to those that are custom made and often known as kit cars with specialized bodies, engines, transmissions and even suspensions. Usually you'll find that certain hot rod shows are actually a show case for a particular type of car, meaning, classic, custom, race, 4x4 or even the super luxurious.
A car show usually has something for everyone from the youngest to the oldest and contests abound. It's almost like a parade of cars and trucks and each set up often offers something for the little ones, and information for the older ones. So don't be afraid to bring the kids and spend the day. Look for an activity sheet for the day, not only will you find contest for the cars but you'll likely find kids games, music, and even vendors with the latest doohickey for cars available.
While it may not seem like something you'll enjoy if you're not into cars, a hot rod show will offer you the thrill of seeing different types of cars and trucks that are used for different purposes and every one of them has been detailed to the last nut and bolt. The next time you see a hot rod show in your area, plan on attending; you might just be surprised at how much you'll enjoy it.
